With the exams finished and my new personal website out in the world, it's time to dive into the world of iOS development again 🥳
I will talk more about the app in the next couple of days, but as a little teaser, here's the icon :)
Well… maybe not anymore.
Yesterday, I worked a little on the app again, but I felt almost no enthusiasm, no joy anymore. It’ll probably come back in the future, but right now, it just didn’t feel right. So this particular project is on hold for the foreseeable future.
What I am enthusiastic about right now is the social web and more particular the AT Protocol1. It really feels like 2026 is gonna be a big year for this part of the internet. And I want to be a part of that.
The web is where my programming journey began over 10 years ago, it’s what I feel most passionate about.
A couple of days ago, Tim launched an RSS-reader on the AT Protocol. This is pretty great timing, as I was writing about something similar just last month. And since in the protocol, everything is public, I can just build my own take at an RSS reader2 but still leverage Tim’s Lexicon, so both are compatible with each other – Tim even encourages this.
So… my next project will be my own shot at the “ideal” (at least for me) RSS reader for the Atmosphere. It’ll be a mix and match of true and tried concepts from products like Reeder, but also new and innovative ones like Alcove or this phenomenal post. Plus obviously some ideas of my own.
Hopefully, something that will be as useful to you as it’ll be to me. With a heavy focus on clean and minimal design and a great reading experience.
I’m gonna call it “Morgenblau”. Quite similar to the German word “Morgenrot”3, but blue is a way better fit for an Atmosphere product.
Exciting times ahead! I set up a simple waitlist form over at morgen.blue if you don’t want to miss anything related to the development of the app. But I’ll also post the occasional update here on my site.
